Sullivan had his 24 month check up today. He weighs in at 31 lbs 6 ounces (75th percentile) and is 34.5 inches tall (50th percentile) with a 20.5 head circumference (90th percentile, not surprising). He hasn’t gotten his 2 year molars in but appears to have reached all other milestone for his age. He got a HEP shot and some blood drawn to check his lead levels and a lilipop and book as a special treat. The Dr. added that he is very verbal for his age and was surprised by his memory and understanding of commands. Just documenting the milestones so I don’t forget.
So Sullivan got the June issue of his National Wildlife Federation kids magazine today. Aunt Carolyn got him a yearly subscription and he has been enjoying it immensely. So tonight the magazine was his bedtime story and we stopped at a page that had four boxes with different animals in them. Sullivan was familiar with three of them so I was pointing at one and asking him “what is this?” when he pointed at another animal on the page and excitedly yelled out “Butt, Butt, it’s a Butt”. At first I thought he was saying Bat as the animal next to the one he was pointing at was a Bat but then I realized he was indeed saying Butt after all, his name for seahorse and the animal he was pointing at. Now for those of you have haven’t watched the Disney movie Finding Nemo a zillion times like we have been force to do in the past month there is a scene where Nemo is on a field trip with his schoolmates and one of them calls a Boat a Butt. Ever since Sullivan saw that scene he has called the seahorse character Butt. So now when he sees any picture of a seashorse he says Butt. I imagine I’ll teach him the right word someday but for now it is far more entertaining to watch him call out Butt with great confidence when he sees a seahorse. No picture to post of this funny moment. I’ll have to capture an audio clip next time and post it cause it is the confidence in his voice at what he thinks is the correct word for the image that makes me laugh soo much.
I’m sorry for all the posts this week but I can’t help it when we capture a cute picture. I just want to share it with all of you who don’t have the pleasure and joy of experiencing this wonderful kid on a regular basis. So here is little Sullivan sitting at the computer watching some new Elmo and Sesame Street clips. Specifically a bunch of Mr. Noodle videos. As you can see he is quite mesmerized by the video. And his legs look so long.
We all had a water filled memorial day weekend. I got out Sullivan’s baby pool on Friday and we splashed and played in it. It has been a very hot week here. We set two record highs for May and we had spent most of the week inside so it was great to get outside and do something fun. Damon squirted us with the hose and filled the air and pool with bubbles and we kicked and played for several hours. Then Saturday was Ella Grace’s 4th birthday party and she had a splash party so Sullivan got to play in the “bath” as he calls it over at their house. They had three pools in the back for kids to play in. Ella also had a pinata at her party that Sullivan thought was very neat. Sullivan watched the kids take turns beating the pinata and then quickly swooped in to pick up the candy that fell on the grass. After he discovered the joy of lollipops he gathered as many as he could find and took them along on his adventures. With one in his mouth and one in either hand you can see Sullivan in above picture trying to go down the slide a task that was much harder to achieve with lollipops in hand. Then Kirk and Carolyn had a memorial day party at their house so we went back over on Sunday and the kids had more pool times. Been a fun weekend.
Just thought I’d post a cute picture of Sullivan during one of our many laundry basket rides through the house. If the laundry basket is sitting empty in the living room he’ll climb inside and say “ride?” and Damon and I will pull him around the house in it. Isn’t he a cute kid 🙂
